Miss Liberty

My friend Shelly inspired me to work with paper clay earlier this month.

She suggested making clay figurines for July 4th.

I jumped in and came up with Miss Liberty.



I wanted her hair to be like "amber waves of grain"



I made her out of paper clay, but I cheat... I bake the clay... before doing so I added stamped detail to her gown.



She is painted and crackled (I *heart* one step crackle!)

I found out that in the Summer 2011 Belle Armoire my free motion sewing Pinafore will be published!
